The THW maintains technical platoons made up of a commanding team, two technical search and rescue groups and one or two specialised groups. The THW local section in Siegburg has two technical platoons and the specialized groups illumination, water damage/pumping, heavy clearance (equipped with a front loader) and oil pollution.
For these purposes the command team is equipped with a large van serving as transport vehicle and mobile command post. A variety of communication equipment and ordinary office material. The team is made up of the platoon leader, his deputy, a communications operator and a driver. As deputy platoon leader I am responsible for the material of this command team. The planning of the training sessions and often also the training itself are my subject. For special training topics of course I am assisted by the organisations training structure, so after chosing a team member for such a course he will be sent to another regional section or to one of the federal schools of THW. Functions obtained so far are:

The command teams duty is the coordinating the groups during missions, communication with the head of operations and partner organizations. Important is the logistic support for the groups in our charge. Also reconnaissance is one of the assigments of this team.
